1. What is the National Night of Classical High Schools?
Any foreign school where Latin and/or Greek is taught, or where cross-curricular activities are organised to promote Ancient Greek and Roman culture, may register.
2. Is there a participation fee for foreign schools?
No. Participation is completely free for non-Italian schools.
3. How does a foreign school register?
Registration is online only via: https://www.nottenazionaleliceoclassico.it/new/en/iscrizione-notte-nazionale-del-liceo-en/https://www.nottenazionaleliceoclassico.it/iscrizioni/ Schools must:
  1. Appoint a contact teacher with Telegram and WhatsApp installed.
  2. Complete the entire online form.
4. Do foreign schools need Telegram and WhatsApp?
Yes. The contact teacher must provide a mobile number with:
  • Telegram (for materials and official updates)
  • WhatsApp (for urgent messages)
5. Is eTwinning registration mandatory?
No. eTwinning is optional. Schools may participate even if
  • they are not registered on the European School Education Platform,
  • They are not interested in joining the eTwinning project,
  • They prefer to receive materials only via Telegram and email.
Joining the eTwinning project “National Night of Classical High Schools …” is an additional possibility, not a requirement. All essential information will be available through Telegram regardless.

6. Can foreign schools customise the official poster and invitations?
Yes, but only in two fields:
  • the school’s official logo
  • logos of local partners No other changes are allowed.
7. What materials are provided by the Italian National Coordination?
  • official poster and invitations (translated in each country mother tongue),
  • opening video,
  • common materials to be used according to the official guidelines.
8. How should schools interpret the annual theme?
Each school may develop the theme creatively, as long as the link to Classical culture is clear. Students must remain the main protagonists. Guests and speakers are welcome if students play an active, leading role in their contributions.
9. Is there a student competition?
Yes. Every year the Italian National Coordination launches a student competition open to all participating schools. The competition is based on a different theme and a different expressive medium each year (for example: a video, a graphic novel, a poem etc.). Students follow the annual guidelines and submit their work through the procedures indicated by the Coordination. The winning students receive:
  • an official Certificate of Merit,
  • a formal mention in the National Night of Classical High Schools’ official documents and publications.
10. What should schools do after the event?
They are invited to upload:
  • high-quality photos with captions (school name, city, country) → in TwinSpace and in the Telegram chat;
  • press coverage (scanned articles or web links);
  • video links (not files) via Telegram.
These materials will be shared on the official website and social media.
